Japanese Knotweed Survey & Risk Review
AJK have recently won a project to undertake a GPS survey of Japanese Knotweed (JK) for a council in the southeast of England. Works entail the accurate positioning of JK in areas of public open space with all data captured in the council’s GIS system. On completion of the survey, AJK will review the risk presented by the JK to the council’s land and adjacent properties resulting in a client focussed specification to tender the JK management works. National trade body the Property Care Association (PCA) is holding a specialised conference, dedicated to the subject of non-native invasive plants.
‘Understanding Invasive Weeds: Japanese Knotweed, Fact and Fiction’ takes place on 23 September at The Vale Resort, Hensol, Cardiff.

As well as seeking to promote a level headed and evidence based approach to Japanese Knotweed, there will also be a focus on other invasive weeds such as Himalayan Balsam and Giant Hogweed, which are increasingly regulated in the UK following new EU regulations, which came into effect in January.
